Position
Description
Engineering/Technician

Uncleared currently acceptable, would prefer someone who is eligible/open to being cleared for future efforts.

Desired skills (Some skills in optics and microwaves can be acquired on the job if nominal hands-on familiarity with these technologies already exists):

  • Bench-level testing and qualification of electronic and optical components and subsystems, including FPGAs, microcontrollers, I2C/UART/SPI interfaces, high-speed (>10Gb/s) microwave/RF electronics, high-speed (>10GHz) microwave/RF test gear, tunable laser assemblies, high-power (>1W optical) EDFAs, bare (not connectorized) optical fibers, electronic polarization controllers.
  • Package design and realization for fieldable prototypes.
  • Bench-level integration of components/subsystems into fieldable prototypes.
  • FPGA and microcontroller programming.
  • Embedded programming.
  • Printed circuit board design, layout, and implementation.
  • Design and implementation of feedback and control methods.

The URF work location is at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences, Greenbelt, MD. Full-time employment and excellent benefits.
